Things To Do Outdoors

Explore the Desert's Outdoor Activities: The desert is an outdoor playground for many types of outdoor activities. Improve your golf game on some of the world's most famous and historic palm springs golf courses. Choose from over 200 courses here in Palm Springs and the surrounding areas. Hike in the local Indian Canyons - choose from Palm Canyon, Andreas Canyon, or Murray Canyon. Take guided horseback riding tours at Coyote Ridge Stable, where trail rides take you up 3,200 feet through the canyons of Morongo Valley, with beautiful views of the San Gorgonio mountains and Mt. San Jacinto.

Experience the desert up close with our jeep and hummer tours. Take the Palm Springs Tram up to the top of San Jacinto, where you can hike, camp, go horseback riding, or just enjoy the breathtaking views of the entire valley. El Paseo in Palm Desert, also 20 minutes away from town, offers upscale shopping the likes of Rodeo Drive on Beverly Hills.

The Palm Springs Air Museum shows you in detail about the fighting planes of World War II. Cabot's Pueblo Museum is a 35 room actual Pueblo made of found materials, housing a perfect sampling of desert art of all types. You can even watch the artists at work! For kids, there is the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert, where kids learn as they move through the exhibits.

See Local Artists in Palm Springs Art Galleries: If you love art, this town offers so much for you to see and visit. The downtown is rich with art galleries and antique stores. The Palm Springs Art Gallery, Adagio and Heusso Gallery are located all within a short walk from each other and offer a great selection of local and other artists. Palm Desert boasts some exceptional galleries, many of which are on El Paseo, near other shops and boutiques. Zantman, Coda and Imago are only a few that will peak your interest in local artistry.
